Brian Owens Dayton OH died in Arcanum crash, collision with semi

Brian Owens Dayton OH Death – A tragic accident in Arcanum early Thursday morning claimed the life of a Dayton man, Brian Owens, 53, according to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.

The fatal collision occurred around 9:15 a.m. at the intersection of Hollansburg-Sampson Road and Alternate State Route 49 North.

Owens was driving a 2023 Ford Transit box van eastbound when he reportedly ran a stop sign and collided with a northbound 2000 Freightliner semitractor-trailer.

Upon impact, Owens’ vehicle veered into a ditch, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash caused significant disruption, as the semi-truck veered off the right side of the road, striking a utility pole and bringing down power lines. The driver of the semi, a 28-year-old man from Anna, was transported to Wayne Healthcare, treated for his injuries, and subsequently released.

The accident scene saw a significant response from local emergency services, including the Arcanum police, fire, and rescue teams, the Darke County coroner’s office, and Arcanum Power and Light. These agencies coordinated efforts to manage the immediate aftermath, secure the site, and address the fallen power lines.

As the investigation continues, the sheriff’s office is working to piece together the events that led to this tragic incident. Preliminary findings suggest that the collision resulted from Owens failing to stop at the intersection, leading to the fatal crash with the semitractor-trailer. However, authorities are still gathering information to fully understand the circumstances.

The community of Arcanum is left mourning the loss of Owens, and the incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of road safety and caution at intersections. The Darke County Sheriff’s Office will continue to investigate and provide updates as more details become available. Our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of Brian Owens during this difficult time.
