Buckman Bridge Suicide: Man jumped to death off Buckman Bridge in Jacksonville, FL

Buckman Bridge Suicide: Law enforcement agencies in Jacksonville, Florida are investigating a death from an apparent suicide on the Buckman Bridge on Monday afternoon.

An adult male passed away after jumping off the bridge early Monday, September 30, 2024. According to investigations, an adult male got out of his vehicle and climbed onto the edge of the Buckman Bridge.

Negotiators arrived and tried to persuade him to take his life, but the man jumped off the bridge. JSO, FHP, and Water Patrol responded to the scene. His body was recovered. Officials performed CPR but he died at the scene of the incident.

JSO released the following details; All southbound lanes of the Buckman Bridge were closed due to police operations. All southbound lanes of the Buckman Bridge were closed Monday afternoon due to police activity, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. The Department of Transportation’s live video showed multiple JSO police cars, FHP cruisers, and fire trucks.

The Buckman Bridge’s southbound lanes are closed at Roosevelt Boulevard due to police activity, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. The Florida Highway Patrol is also on the scene. Drivers are encouraged to find alternate routes.
