Carl Moyer Ankeny IA Death – Karl Chevrolet founder Carl Moyer, a prominent industrialist from Ankeny, Iowa, passed away on Saturday at the age of 83.

Moyer’s journey to success began humbly after he dropped out of East High School in Des Moines and started working as a side salesperson at a gas station. By 19, he was already managing sales at a dealership in Cedar Falls, gaining valuable experience that would shape his future.

In 1978, Moyer took a significant step in his career by purchasing his brother’s share of a single-car dealership, creating what would later become Karl Chevrolet in Ankeny.

Starting with just one car and no employees, Moyer built the dealership from the ground up, eventually relocating to its current location in 1983 at the intersection of Ankeny Boulevard and Oralabor Road.

Moyer’s meticulous attention to detail and customer-focused approach helped his dealership thrive, earning it a spot in the top 3% of all Chevrolet dealers. His slogan, “your dealer for life,” reflected his commitment to customer satisfaction. Under his leadership, Karl Chevrolet was recognized as General Motors’ top certified used car dealership 13 times.

Moyer’s legacy extends beyond the automotive world. He was known for his charitable contributions, including a $1 million donation to Des Moines Area Community College and significant support for local organizations like Variety – The Children’s Charity of Iowa, the Ankeny YMCA, and more.

He is survived by his wife, Penny, daughter Pam, and sons Brad and Bret. Funeral arrangements are pending, and the cause of death has not been disclosed.
