Maryland State Police are actively investigating the deaths of two children in their Cecil County residence, marking the case as “suspicious,” as disclosed in a recent news release.

Responding promptly to a distress call from a 12-year-old, officers from the Perryville Police Department and state troopers from the North East Barrack arrived at the 600 Block of Cole Street in Perryville at approximately 1:20 p.m. The caller reported her siblings’ distress due to an undisclosed medical condition. Subsequently, she informed law enforcement that upon returning home, she discovered her siblings unconscious on the bedroom floor.

Skylar Alice Marie Jones, 14, and Gaige Marshall Dehaven, 10, both residents of Perryville, were declared deceased at the scene by emergency medical personnel. Autopsies conducted failed to ascertain the cause or manner of death. Pending the results of the toxicology report, investigators are diligently awaiting conclusive information.

The investigation uncovered the presence of drug paraphernalia within the residence, prompting Maryland State Police to secure a search and seizure warrant for the house. The ongoing inquiry aims to unravel the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident, with authorities meticulously pursuing all available leads for a comprehensive understanding of the situation.
