Chattanooga State Community College Shooting: Lockdown, heavy police on Campus after harm threats to Students

Chattanooga State Community College Lockdown – Chattanooga police received multiple calls about a potential gunman on the campus at Chattanooga State Community College at 4501 Amnicola Highway.

The caller demanded payment and threatened to harm students if payment wasn’t received. “CPD, along with multiple law enforcement agencies, responded to the campus, and the campus was placed on lockdown per campus protocol.

“Law enforcement extensively searched the campus but did not locate a credible threat. The lockdown has now been lifted. Chattanooga State and the Hamilton County Department of Education has provided additional information for students and parents who were affected by the lockdown.

“The Chattanooga Police Department, Chattanooga State Police and federal partners will continue the investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.”

Earlier today some staff members advised there was an active shooter on campus. Students and staff were told to shelter in place and lock their doors. Multiple police and emergency vehicles were at the campus.

Chattanooga State officials and law enforcement at a news conference late this morning said they “have heard no gunfire” and they have not “encountered any suspect or victims.” No injuries have been reported. The campus was still being cleared by law enforcement.

An alert was posted on the Facebook page of the college at 9:52 a.m. today that said “TigerAlert: Get indoors as soon as possible, shelter in place and lock your door.”

Another alert was posted several minutes later that said, “TigerAlert: As this situation continues to unfold, please remain in your locked-down status until further notice. If anyone is experiencing a medical emergency or personal crisis, please notify campus security immediately. Thank you for your patience and cooperation. We will continue to keep you updated.”
