Chris Eddy Greene County GA Death:- A man has died following an explosion while battling a truck fire Wednesday morning, September 4th, 2024. The victim has been identified as Chris Eddy, a resident of Eatonton, Georgia.
According to reports, Greene County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Chris Eddy died from injuries sustained in the incident (LODD). Eddy was known for his humor among other firefighters.
Chris Eddy’s cause of death
A battalion chief tragically lost his life in an explosion involving a burning truck in Greene County on Wednesday morning. Chris Eddy, a battalion chief with Greene County Fire Rescue, was killed in the incident near Greensboro.
Firefighters were dispatched to the scene before 10 a.m. on Georgia Route 15 near Lick Skillet Road, just outside Greensboro, as reported by the Union-Recorder. The Georgia State Patrol is currently investigating the fire and explosion.

In a statement from the Greene County Board of Commissioner, they said “It is great sadness that the Greene County Board of Commissioners share the line-of-duty death of Battalion Chief Chris Eddy on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2024. Battalion Chief Eddy was assigned to Greene County Fire Rescue’s Station No. 11. We extend our deepest sympathies to the family, friends, and colleagues of Battalion Chief Eddy.”

He was also deeply involved in his community as a volunteer firefighter at Fire Station 4 in Buckhead. Chris wasn’t just a firefighter; he was a fireman’s fireman—someone who truly embodied the spirit of the profession.
