Chris Gaffney Death – Dundee Football Club is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Chris Gaffney, a cherished member of the stadium team, who passed away at the age of 65 after a brief illness.
Chris, a devoted husband and father, died peacefully at Ninewells Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones.
Chris joined Dundee FC in 2020, where he quickly became a valued and respected member of the Dens Park Stadium staff. Known for his unwavering support and willingness to assist both colleagues and fans, Chris’s presence will be greatly missed by everyone at the club.
Before his time at Dundee FC, Chris, a qualified engineer, started his career at Bonar Long in August 1975. He later moved to Mitie Facilities Management before fulfilling his lifelong dream of working at the football club he had always supported.
An avid footballer in his youth, Chris played for his school team at Craigie High and continued to play for amateur teams in Dundee, a part of his life that he took great pride in.
Dundee FC will honor Chris’s memory at their home match against St Mirren on Saturday, August 31. He is survived by his wife Cordelia and daughter Tegan, who, along with their extended family and friends, are in the thoughts of the entire Dundee FC community during this difficult time.
Chris’s funeral will be held on Tuesday, September 3, at The Quay in Dundee. The family has invited those wishing to contribute to donate to Ward 32 or Macmillan in his memory.
