31-year-old Chatham man Cody Blake Rowland died in Pittsylvania County 3-vehicle crash

Virginia State Police is investigating a three-vehicle crash, which resulted in a fatality. The crash occurred Thursday, Jan 18, at 3:20 p.m. on Route 41, Franklin Turnpike, at its intersection with Route 750, Whitmell School Road, in Pittsylvania County.

A 2005 GMC Canyon failed to stop at the stop sign on Route 750 and was struck by a 2022 Dodge Ram. The GMC then struck a 2013 Ford Flex.

The driver of the GMC was identified as Cody Blake Rowland, 31, of Chatham. Rowland was not wearing his seatbelt and died at the scene.

Jason Robertson, 39, of Dry Fork, drove the Ford and was wearing his seatbelt. Robertson was injured. He transported to the hospital by EMS for injuries received in the crash.

Richard Weese, 46, of Winston Salem, NC, drove the Dodge and was also wearing his seatbelt. Weese was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
