Dawson Thompson Troy NC Death – Dawson Thompson, 21, passed away Monday, September 2, 2024. He was announced dead in a social media post that read “Such a good guy who was all about the kids.
He coached a good bit of kids from all over the county. I’ve personally coached with him and referee’d with him throughout the last few years. He was also a die hard state fan. Gone too soon. Love you brotha Dawson Thompson.”
Who was Dawson Thompson?
Born on June 27, 2003, in Stanly County, Dawson Bryan Thompson’s vibrant spirit and genuine love for those around him marked the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Dawson grew up surrounded by the love and support of his family. From a young age, Dawson exhibited a passion for sports and a heart for community service.
His commitment to local sports was evident through his active involvement in the Upward Youth Basketball program and the AAU, where he not only participated but also gave back as a referee for youth basketball and an umpire for youth baseball.
Dawson’s love for sports went beyond the games themselves; it was a conduit for his deeper desire to support and uplift underprivileged youth in his community.
Dawson Thompson obituary and funeral arrangements
A funeral service will be held Sunday, September 8, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Holly Mount Baptist Church in Mt. Gilead, officiated by Tony Sedberry and Pastor Steve Lindsey. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday, September 7, 2024 for 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service in Troy. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Dawson’s memory to Upward Cross Court Basketball League, Troy First Wesleyan, 1368 Hwy 134 N, Troy, NC 27371.
