Death; Jason Kapoor Bangkok, Thailand, Detroit, MI, native and poker player died by Suicide

Jason Kapoor Death – This week, tragic news broke that prominent player Jason “Clozer” Kapoor, who was well-known in the Midwest and Michigan poker scenes, had taken his own life at the age of 29.

Born on December 21, 1994, Kapoor spent 70 hours a week at a Dunkin Donuts throughout his teenage years after leaving home at the age of 14.

In 2019, he made the full-time switch to poker from selling cars. Originally from Michigan, Kapoor moved to Thailand at the end of 2022 and set up a house there. He frequently posted images and videos of his travels on social media.

With a commanding chip lead in three-handed play, Kapoor appeared certain to win, but he lost four close all-in situations before losing to eventual winner Ken Baime.

After losing his mother two years prior, Kapoor found out during the poker event that Ray Malone III, a fellow player and his best friend of fifteen years, had been murdered by a drunk driver.

When Kapoor finished that tournament in third place, “he dedicated what would be his biggest lifetime score to him,” according to friend and poker reporter Liam Gannon. He was a very straightforward guy who wore his heart on his sleeve. One of poker’s most contagious smiles.
