Fox River Jet Ski Accident
It was thought that the man was flung into the sea after colliding with something. At the time of the event, the individual was travelling in tandem with another jet skier on a different watercraft. Refusing medical attention, he drove his jet ski to the shore. To aid with the search, the Wauconda, McHenry, and Cary fire districts were called to the area.
Soon after, the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) was set to the box alarm level, requiring additional resources like boats, sonar equipment, and divers. Just south of Route 176, at 3600 Riverside Drive, fire fighters set up shop next to the marina. According to Vucha, after a thorough search of the river, rescuers found the missing man dead in the water not far from his jet ski just after 3 p.m.
Following the finding, teams started to pick up and demobilize and operations were reduced. Because of the incident that happened on the Fox River, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources is in charge of the investigation.
