Ecaterina Rojco Salem NH Obituary: Student at University of Massachusetts Amherst has died by suicide
Ecaterina Rojco Death: The entire New Hampshire community and the student communities at UMASS Amherst are mourning the tragic death of a student who passed away by suicide. Salem High School graduate and current student at the University of Massachusetts Amherst died from an apparent suicide following a battle with depression. Ecaterina Rojco was found dead from a self-inflicted injury. Law enforcement agencies say no foul play is suspected.
Who Was Ecaterina Rojco?
Ecaterina Rojco placed third in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:05.50 at the Holy Cross Invitational (4/23). She also took third place in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:06.05 at the UMass Invitational (4/16). Ecaterina Rojco was a third place in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:06.07 at the UMass Invitational (4/03).
Indoor: She competed in four meets for the Minutewomen, most often in the 4×400 meter relay, and earned fifth place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.59 at the Blue & Orange Invitational (1/29). Between 2020-21: Ecaterina Rojco competed in two meets for the Minutewomen, most often in the 200-meter dash.
Ecaterina Rojco competed in indoor and outdoor tracks at Salem High School. She earned 9 total letters and helped set the school record in the 4×400 meter relay for indoor track with a time of 4:09 and in outdoor track with a time of 4:01. She was named team MVP during all four years of high school.
She championed the team in points during her junior and senior years of high school and won the State Championship in the 100-meter hurdles. According to her academic profile, she was the captain of the indoor and outdoor track teams during both her junior and senior years.
Ecaterina Rojco also played volleyball. She was the winner of the Integrated Science Award, History Award, Engineering Award, and Intermediate Spanish Award. She was a member of the National Honor Society. Member of the National Spanish Honor Society. Ecaterina Rojco was born at Salem, New Hampshire, and was the daughter of Elena and Tudor Rojco. She was a dedicated sister of Sergey. She majored in Neuroscience.
