A Jacksonville high school was placed on lockdown Tuesday amid a rumor of a potential school shooting, Duval County Public Schools announced.
The school threat at Englewood High School was deemed unfounded, and no threat or any type of violence was discovered, according to a Duval County Public Schools representative.
The representative shared with First Coast News the message the school district sent to families. The message states that “something caused the students to panic,” but “calm has been restored, and students are safe.”
DCPS added that students are encouraged to remain at school for the rest of the school day, but also understand if parents would like to pick up their children early.
