Foothill High School Shooting – On Thursday, December 12th, 2024, Foothill Ranch Middle School and Foothill High School in Sacramento were placed under temporary lockdown following reports of a possible firearm on campus.
The precautionary lockdown was enacted to protect the students, faculty, and staff while authorities investigated the situation.
The incident unfolded when reports came in about the presence of a firearm on or near the campuses. In response, both schools initiated their emergency protocols, locking down the buildings and securing all entrances.
Law enforcement agencies were immediately dispatched to the schools, where they conducted searches and began investigating the threat.
During the lockdown, students were instructed to stay in their classrooms, and all outdoor activities were halted. Parents were notified of the situation and were asked to avoid the school grounds to allow emergency responders to do their work.
