Garrett Nichols Death – Laie Brigham Young University (BYU–Hawaii) student Garrett Nichols has sadly passed away. He died after a swimming accident leaving family, friends and the entirety of his school in shock.
He was announced dead on Saturday 8th September 2024 through a publication that says “It is with heavy hearts we share the news that BYUH student Garrett Nichols has passed away.”
From his roots in Atascadero, California, where he grew up as a dedicated and driven individual, Garrett was always determined to make the most out of every opportunity.
A senior majoring in business management, he was well on his way to shaping a promising career. However, Garrett’s life was not defined merely by academic or professional pursuits. His true essence was revealed in his profound devotion to his faith and his zest for life.
Garrett’s relationship with the gospel was marked by a dedication that was both rare and admirable. He was “all-in” on the gospel, regularly reading his scriptures and saying his prayers with a sincerity that radiated from him.
His love for serving in the temple was a testament to his commitment. As a temple ordinance worker in the Laie Hawaii Temple, Garrett found immense joy and fulfillment in contributing to the sacred work of the temple.
Hawaii held a special place in Garrett’s heart. The islands were not only a backdrop for his spiritual service but also a playground for his adventurous spirit.
Whether hiking through lush landscapes or exploring new corners of the island, Garrett embraced every moment with enthusiasm. His love for the outdoors was evident in everything he did, and he found endless adventure in nature’s offerings.
Garrett’s mission experience was a journey marked by both challenge and triumph. Called to the Mexico Tuxtla Gutierrez Mission, he began his service in the Alaska Anchorage Mission during the COVID-19 pandemic. Navigating the uncertainties of a global pandemic, Garrett continued to serve with unwavering faith and resilience. Afterward, he completed his mission in Tuxtla, further deepening his commitment and service.
His approach to life was characterized by setting ambitious goals and pursuing them with determination. But Garrett’s goals were never solely for personal achievement. He always sought to include others in his journey, fostering a sense of community and belonging. He made it a priority to ensure that everyone felt involved and valued, embodying the spirit of inclusion and kindness.
