Gary Welsh Motorcycle Accident – Gary Welsh, 79, lost his life in a tragic motorcycle-school bus crash on August 21, 2024, leaving the town of Saxonburg in mourning.
The neighborhood is in shock following the tragedy, which happened at the crossroads of Dinnerbell and Victory roads in Jefferson Township, Butler County.
Welsh’s motorcycle crossed the center line into oncoming traffic, according to the Pennsylvania State Police, and collided with a school bus carrying about 20 elementary school pupils from the Knoch School District. Welsh’s motorcycle was carried beneath the bus for thirty feet before coming to a rest because the bus driver was unable to prevent the collision.
Welsh, a Saxonburg resident, was declared dead at the scene and was named the victim on Thursday afternoon by the Butler County Coroner’s Office. The state police are currently looking into what caused the crash.
