Harry McBrayer, Dunbar Resident and Chemical Engineer “MAC” Has Died

Harry McBrayer Death – On September 24, 2024, Harry H. “MAC” McBrayer Jr., who was 90 years old and a beloved citizen of Dunbar, as well as a former resident of Belle and Charleston, passed away and entered the presence of the Lord before retiring from this life.

Mac participated actively in the school band at Belle Elementary and Dupont Junior High throughout his early years. Later he transferred to Castle Heights Military Academy, where he honed his football pitch talents.

Career
1966 saw Mac graduate from Morris Harvey College with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. He then had a remarkable 43-year career at Occidental Chemical, holding the Lab Supervisor post until his retirement. Apart from his work life, Mac enjoyed engaging in his three preferred hobbies: music, tennis, and golf.

Harry McBrayer Was Survived and Preceded by
Mac is survived by his son, Gary McBrayer of TX; daughters, Sherry McBrayer of WV, Debbie Williams of OH, Sandi Miles (Dana) of WV; grandchildren, Emerson McBrayer, Kelli Siracuse (Bob,) Leslie Birch (Kevin), Evan Kegley, Victoria Convest (Matt), Andrea Gates; along with five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Bird Cook; stepfather, John Paul Cook; father, Harry H. McBrayer Sr.; and wife of 50 years, Jerry L. McBrayer.

Memorial Service and In Lieu
From 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., on Sunday, October 6, at Keller Funeral Home in Dunbar, will be a memorial assembly. Contributions to Dream aWay Cat Rescue (PO Box 11828, Charleston, WV 25387) or HospiceCare (1606 Kanawha Blvd. W, Charleston, WV 25387) instead of flowers.
