About RED Band
Red is an American Christian rock band that was created in 2002 by brothers, guitarist Anthony Armstrong and bassist Randy Armstrong, along with lead vocalist Michael Barnes. The band is also stylized as R3D or RED. Red is based in Nashville, Tennessee.
Additionally, drummer Andrew Hendrix and guitarist Jasen Rauch were members of the band’s first lineup to begin with. There are currently three members in the lineup: the Armstrong brothers, Barnes, and drummer Brian Medeiros. This core trio has been performing together for quite some time.
Red was able to secure a development deal with their longstanding producer Rob Graves, which ultimately resulted in a record deal with the Christian label Essential Records in the year 2004. This came about after the band had made multiple demos that displayed a style of music that was a combination of alternative, hard, and Christian rock. After the release of their debut albums, End of Silence (2006) and Innocence & Instinct (2009), the band received a nomination for a Grammy Award in the category of Best Rock Gospel Album.
Additionally, the songs “Breathe Into Me” and “Death of Me” were successful singles. The popularity of Red among the general public increased, and the band’s third album, Until We Have Faces (2011), climbed to the number two spot on the Billboard 200 chart. This was followed by Release the Panic (2013), which achieved its highest position at number seven, Of Beauty and Rage (2015), Gone (2017), Declaration (2020), and Rated R (2023).
