Heather Strode WKU Death – The Western Kentucky University (WKU) community is grieving the loss of Heather Strode, a devoted professor who passed away on January 1, 2025.

A WKU alumna, Strode earned her degree in 1995 and went on to have a remarkable 22-year career at her alma mater. She joined the Department of Communication in August 2002, where she became a pillar of the department and a cherished mentor to her students.

Before her role as a professor, Strode began her career at WKU in 1999 as the leadership and volunteerism coordinator with the Department of Student Activities.

Her passion for student engagement and development led her to the Communication Department, where she thrived as a faculty member, dedicated to the growth and success of her students.

Strode also made a lasting contribution to WKU’s Greek life as the adviser for the Kappa Delta Sorority. Her exceptional dedication to the sorority was acknowledged when she received the Randy Bracey Outstanding Advisor Award in April 2024, a testament to her commitment to her students and the organization.

A visitation for Heather Strode will be held from 12 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, January 7, 2025, at J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Home. A second visitation will take place on Monday, January 8, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Broadway United Methodist Church, followed by her funeral service.
