HMS Kent Suicide: Community mourns as HMS Kent sailor found dead, Family insists death is shocking

HMS Kent Suicide: Another HMS Kent sailor has tragically died this week. The HMS Kent community is mourning the tragic death of a Navy sailor who was found dead from an apparent suicide on Tuesday, October 1, 2024.

The community released a statement urging the public to pray for the community as they mourn the tragic death of the sailor. Condolence messages have been sent by the public to the family of the sailor who authorities said died by drowning self in the sea.

HMS Kent: HMS Kent is a Type 23 Duke-class frigate in the Royal Navy, the eleventh to bear the name, albeit she is legally named after the dukedom rather than the county.

Kent, sponsored by Princess Alexandra, the Hon. Lady Ogilvy (daughter of the late Prince George, Duke of Kent), was launched on May 28, 1998, and commissioned on June 8, 2000, by then-Commander John Clink.

She was the first Royal Navy ship to go into service in the twenty-first century, as well as the first warship to have a female Executive Officer, Lt Cdr Vanessa Jane Spiller, who was appointed in April 2001.

bKent’s history comprises six battle honors, from the three given to the first Kent of 46 guns built in 1653 to the five awarded to the ninth and tenth Kents of World War I and World War.
