Hopkinton Boating Incident – A man died Thursday after he suffered a suspected medical emergency while boating at the Whitehall Reservoir, authorities said. The name of the man was not released.
Police went to the Whitehall Reservoir, 300 Wood St., at 4:42 p.m. after a boater called and said he saw another boater in distress and called 911, according to a joint release by the Fire and Police departments.
The boater, who was also not identified by authorities, had brought the man onto a small island in the reservoir and was providing care to him. Firefighters from both Hopkinton and Westborough used boats to reach the island. The Fire District 14 Dive Team also assisted.
Firefighters brought the man and family members who were in his boat back to shore. They then took the man to an area hospital where he died, according to the release.
The incident is being investigated by the Hopkinton Police and the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.
