Iffy Sargent Presque Isle ME Death – The community of Presque Isle and Caribou, Maine, is mourning the loss of Ifeanyi “Iffy” Sargent, who passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.

A beloved member of the Caribou High School Vikings State Championship basketball team, Iffy’s sudden passing has left a profound void in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who knew him.

Born on October 4, 1999, in Nigeria, Iffy spent his earliest years in an orphanage before being adopted at the age of two and a half by Bruce and Sherry Sargent. He was raised in Presque Isle, Maine, where he became a cherished member of the community, known for his warm heart and radiant smile.

Iffy’s love for life extended beyond sports. He was an avid gamer who cherished time spent with his family and friends. He was deeply involved with his church’s youth group, which strengthened his faith and brought him meaningful relationships.

Professionally, Iffy worked with his family at Falcon Transportation, where his lighthearted personality and genuine kindness endeared him to coworkers and their families. Known for his humor, warmth, and unique birthday songs, Iffy had a way of making everyone around him feel special and appreciated.

A lifelong fan of The Lion King, Iffy embraced its message of “the circle of life,” living each day to the fullest and leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed his path. His infectious smile, kind spirit, and the love he shared with others will remain a lasting legacy.

Iffy is survived by his devoted mother, Sherry Sargent, and his father, Bruce Sargent, along with Bruce’s wife, Michelle, all of Presque Isle. He is also survived by his sister, Shelby Miller, and her husband Calvin of Mars Hill; his brother, Brad Sargent, and his fiancé Erica of Caribou; and his beloved nephews, Gavin Miller, Braedon, Kaymen, and Tyson Sargent, and niece, Lydia Miller. Other surviving family members include his sister-in-law, Tina; maternal grandfather, Gary Bell, and partner Vicki Cameron of Mars Hill; and paternal grandparents, Ronald and Marie Sargent of Bridgewater, Maine, along with many special aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Iffy was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Patricia “Patty” Bell; his uncle, Brent Esancy; and his cousins, Kalen and Karter Bell, all of Mars Hill. Iffy attended school in Presque Isle before transferring to Caribou High School during his junior year, where he graduated with the Class of 2019. His time at Caribou High School was marked by his contributions to the State Championship basketball team, an achievement that he held close to his heart. His passion for basketball extended beyond his school years as he continued to support his nephews and young athletes at community games and events.

A celebration of Iffy’s life will take place on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at the Caribou High School Gymnasium. Calling hours will be from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. A reception will be held in the school cafeteria from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.

Iffy will forever be remembered for his love, laughter, and the joy he brought to the world. His legacy of kindness and community will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
