Jennifer James Car Accident – A devastating collision on Interstate 35 in McLennan County early Wednesday morning resulted in the death of one person and left six others injured.
The accident occurred around 6 a.m. near Mile Marker 328 in Hewitt, involving a total of nine vehicles, including six cars and three truck tractor semi-trailers.
First responders from the Lorena Police Department and Robinson Volunteer Fire Department arrived to find one of the semi-trucks engulfed in flames. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the chain reaction was triggered by a semi-truck failing to adjust its speed as traffic slowed for a road crew.
The crash tragically claimed the life of 39-year-old Jennifer James, a resident of Lorena, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Six others sustained injuries and were transported to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Waco for treatment.
Traffic on the northbound lanes was heavily impacted for several hours as crews worked to clear the wreckage and investigate the scene. DPS officials are urging drivers to exercise caution and adjust their speed in construction zones to prevent further tragedies.
