Jeremy Sutton EMS Death – Jefferson County Emergency Medical Service Paramedic Jeremy Sutton has sadly passed away. He died after a tragic accident on Saturday 31st August 2024. He was announced dead through a post that reads:
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jeremy Sutton our assistant chief of the department. Jeremy was working his paramedic job with Jefferson County EMS when his and his partners med unit was involved in a motor vehicle incident on interstate 40 last night after clearing from an earlier call.”
A collision that occurred on Saturday in Jefferson County resulted in the death of one paramedic and the injury of another. According to Brad Phillips, the director of Jefferson County Emergency Medical Services, the collision took place on Interstate 40 close to the intersection with Interstate 81 at approximately 9:30 p.m.
I-40 West was the location where the accident took place, according to the Tennessee Department of Transportation, which also mentioned that a tractor-trailer was also involved in the collision.
When the ambulance was struck by the commercial vehicle, Phillips stated that it was responding to a report of a collision in the area that resulted in injuries within the vicinity.
Additional information regarding the collision was released by the Tennessee Highway Patrol in a preliminary report. The report stated that the ambulance was travelling southbound on Interstate 81, and the tractor-trailer was travelling westbound on Interstate 40 when it merged with Interstate 81.
According to the Texas Highway Patrol, the accident occurred when the ambulance, which was equipped with emergency lights, turned in front of the tractor-trailer as it attempted to gain access to Interstate 40 East at a tiny crossover as a result of the accident.
Phillips stated that the ambulance also contained two paramedics from Jefferson County, Jeremy Sutton and Sarah Brooks. Both of these individuals sustained injuries and were sent to the University of Tennessee Medical Centre for treatment. According to the preliminary assessment, neither Sutton nor Brooks were securely fastened in their seatbelts at the time of the collision.
The driver of the commercial vehicle, a man from Georgia who was 67 years old, was not hurt because he was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident. According to the preliminary report, the Texas Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation into the crash, and at this time, prospective charges against both drivers are pending the conclusion of the inquiry that is now underway.
