Kameron Hartman Death: The 4600 block of E. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. was the scene of a tragic accident on the night of September 25, in which a pedestrian was fatally struck by two vehicles.
At approximately 9:32 p.m., the Austin Police Department responded to the crash, where 28-year-old Kameron Hartman was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to police reports, Hartman was crossing the street when a white SUV collided with him, and subsequently another vehicle. The SUV’s driver, who was unharmed, is entirely cooperating with investigators and remained at the scene.
However, the driver of the second vehicle that was involved in the incident has not yet been identified, and it departed the scene. There is an ongoing effort by law enforcement to gather any information that could be useful in identifying the driver of the second vehicle.
The Vehicular Homicide Unit of the Austin Police Department is encouraging anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward. APD is urging witnesses or individuals with knowledge of the incident to contact them at 512-974-8111.
The community has been left shook by the loss of life, which has underscored the hazards that pedestrians encounter on Austin’s congested streets as the investigation continues.
