Lauren Sweeney New Britain Obituary – Lauren M. Sweeney, of New Britain, tragically departed this life on Friday, January 10, 2025, at Prisma Health Baptist Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina, due to natural causes.
She was just 21 years old, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, ambition, and joy that deeply touched everyone who knew her. Born in Sewell, New Jersey, Lauren was the cherished daughter of Gregg and Carol Ann Broll Sweeney.
She was the maternal granddaughter of the late George A. and Joanne Gleba Broll and the paternal granddaughter of the late Carol Frey Sweeney. Her family was the cornerstone of her life, and she brought them endless pride and happiness.
Lauren’s educational journey reflected her passion for learning and her unwavering determination to make a difference. She began her studies at Herma Simons Elementary School in Clayton, NJ, and after moving to Bucks County in 2016, she attended Central Bucks West High School, where she graduated in 2021.
Lauren was currently a senior at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, pursuing a degree in Exercise Science. With dreams of becoming a physical therapist, she was set to graduate in May of this year and had planned to attend Arcadia University to earn her doctorate in Physical Therapy.
Lauren was a proud member of the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority at the University of South Carolina and participated in various other school organizations. Her vibrant personality and dedication to helping others made her a beloved figure among her peers and mentors.
Athletics and teamwork were central to Lauren’s life. She grew up as a cheerleader and competed in many All-Star Cheerleading gyms, including South Jersey Storm and Victory Vipers. Her love for cheerleading was matched only by her enthusiasm for supporting her USC Gamecocks football team and attending concerts with friends.
Lauren’s compassionate nature shone through in every aspect of her life. She worked at the Doylestown YMCA, where she brought joy to coworkers and members alike. Her friends, who often referred to her as their second family, remember her as someone who always made time to lend a helping hand or share a laugh.
Lauren is survived by her loving parents, Gregg and Carol Ann Sweeney; her devoted siblings, Jillian M. Sweeney and Ryan J. Sweeney; her paternal grandfather, William L. Sweeney; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who were touched by her beautiful spirit. Her absence will be deeply felt, but her memory will forever remain a source of comfort and inspiration.
Family, friends, and all whose lives Lauren touched are invited to honor her memory. A visitation will take place on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 E. Butler Avenue (at Sandy Ridge Road), New Britain, PA, from 9:00 AM until her Prayer Service at 11:30 AM.
