Lucas Menz Obituary, St. Louis MO: Police have identified the man who died in a high-speed chase in Missouri on Wednesday, October 23, 2024.

One person is dead after a car crash that happened Wednesday morning in south St. Louis County. Authorities say the crash happened around 1 a.m. on Southbound I-55, just north of Lindbergh.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the driver lost control of the vehicle after evading a St. Louis County officer. The vehicle drove off the left side of the roadway and overturned.

The driver, identified as 21-year-old Lucas Menz, of St. Louis, was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash shut down southbound lanes of I-55 at Reavis Barracks for hours but it has since reopened.

Initial report – Police Investigations
A man died in a crash early Wednesday morning on Interstate 55 after failing to pull over for an emergency vehicle. The crash happened just after midnight Wednesday on I-55 South near the South Lindbergh Boulevard exit, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The driver was speeding down I-55 after “failing to yield” to a St. Louis County police officer before losing control of the car, traveling off the left side of the roadway and overturning.
