Mallory Schwab, Morgan County deputy hospitalized after being shot while responding to a call of a suicidal teenager

On Tuesday morning, a deputy from the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office was hospitalized after sustaining a gunshot wound.

According to law enforcement sources, the incident occurred in the 7000 block of Beech Grove Road in Martinsville.

Multiple sources indicated that the event unfolded around 7:30 a.m. when law enforcement responded to conduct a welfare check on a reported suicidal juvenile subject.

During the encounter, the juvenile discharged a single shot, striking the female deputy in the shoulder.

Law enforcement sources conveyed that the injury did not appear to be life-threatening, and the deputy was transported to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

The Johnson County SWAT team maintained a presence at the Beech Grove Road address, as reported by sources.
