Who was Mario Raso?
Mario Raso was a passionate educator and accomplished soccer coach based in Hamilton, Ontario. In 2023, he served as a Secondary Teacher at the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board, where he dedicated himself to shaping the minds and character of his students.
With a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Education, Mario combined his academic expertise with a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment. In addition to his role as a teacher, Mario was the girls’ soccer coach at St. Thomas More Catholic Secondary School.
His coaching journey spans over 11 years at the high school level, where he has had a profound impact on young athletes in Hamilton and Mississauga, particularly at Mount Carmel Catholic Secondary School. Mario’s coaching philosophy emphasizes skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship, encouraging his players to strive for excellence both on and off the field.
His extensive qualifications include being an OSA Technical Level III and NCCP Theory Level III instructor, as well as a 1V1 Soccer Academy Instructor. With nine years of experience in coaching boys and girls’ rep teams, ranging from U-10 to U-17, including participation in the Ontario Youth Soccer League (OYSL), Mario has built a strong reputation in the local soccer community. His commitment to player development and his passion for the sport inspire young athletes to reach their full potential, making a lasting impact in their lives.
