Melissa Wood Saginaw MI Death – Tragically, 37-year-old Melissa Wood lost her life in an accident at an intersection in Saginaw Township. A pickup truck hit her after failing to stop at a red light.
The incident took place on Saturday at approximately 5:25 p.m., according to the Saginaw Township Police Department.
As Wood was getting ready to turn left onto Tittabawassee Road from Hospital Road heading north, a Ford F-150 pickup truck crashed into her Chevrolet Malibu. A 44-year-old St. Louis, Michigan woman was reportedly driving a pickup truck east on Tittabawassee Road when she disregarded the red light at the crossing.
Damage to Wood’s vehicle was substantial due to the impact. Not long after that, first responders showed there and took Wood to a local hospital, where she was later declared dead.
The St. Louis woman and her front-seat passenger had reportedly escaped the site of the accident after it had occurred. Prior to the arrival of law authorities, they shifted into a Pontiac G6, which trailed behind their pickup truck, and departed from the scene.
The Saginaw Township Police Department, the Alma Police Department, the Gratiot County Sheriff’s Office, and the Bay City Department of Public Safety all worked together to find the people accused. Unnamed charges have been filed against the St. Louis driver who was detained. But since she has not been arraigned in court just yet, her identity remains a mystery.
Authorities are still trying to determine what caused the collision and what factors contributed to the unfortunate disaster. Those who knew Melissa Wood recall her as a lively and beloved person, and the community is in sadness at her death.
