Midtown Overnight Shooting – The shooting death of one man in Midtown is the subject of Kansas City’s latest homicide investigation.
According to the Kansas City Police Department, the shooting happened around 3:30 a.m. on Aug. 24. People were gathered outside of a business on West 39th Street and Central Street when shots were fired.
When officers arrived, they found one man with an apparent gunshot wound who was pronounced dead at the scene. Two more adults, a man and a woman, were also found with gunshot wounds. They were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Similar Incidents
This was the second of two fatal overnight shootings in the Kansas City metro. The first took place in KCK and left one man dead and another in critical condition.
In June, a shooting just one block away on West 39th Street and Broadway Boulevard took the life of 29-year-old Deshaun Mckinzy. The area has been subject to calls for action from the community, who want to see crime and shootings decrease.
