Mike Gunter Death – Mike Gunter has passed away suddenly. He was confirmed dead on Friday, February 27, 2024. He died leaving many hearts scarred after learning of his sudden death. He will always be missed by all those who had the pleasure of meeting him during the course of his life.
We regret to inform you of the loss of Mike Gunter, a much-loved member of the McKinzie, Alabama community and school, who will be much missed. The loss of Mike has been devastating to everyone who knew him, but his leadership, compassion, and unwavering commitment will live on in our memories.
For many people at McKenzie School, Mike was more than simply a teacher; he was an inspiration and a guide. With his intelligence, generosity, and unfaltering dedication to the achievement of his students, Mike affected the lives of many generations of children throughout his tenure as principal from 2013 to 2016 and as assistant principle from 2006 to 2013. His influence went well beyond the four walls of his classroom because he was so dedicated to making everyone he met feel like they belonged.
Mike was a dedicated husband, caring father, and beloved friend on top of his stellar teaching profession. He enjoyed the simple things in life and spending time with his family after retiring from his job of 39 years so he could spend more time on the farm with his wife.
Mike Gunter left an indelible mark on our lives and the lives of many others; as we grieve his passing, may we never forget him. His selflessness, honesty, and commitment will serve as an example to all of us.
Those closest to Mike are in our prayers and thoughts at this time. I pray that the love and support of his family and friends, as well as the memories they shared with him, provide them solace during this difficult time.
First Baptist Church in Greenville will host a memorial service for Mike on Monday, February 19. The visiting hours are from 12:00 to 1:00, and the service will immediately follow. My heart goes out to you, Mike. Although we shall miss you tremendously, we will always hold you dear in our hearts.
