Monmouth University Lockdown: Reporting active shooter scare at Monmouth University in West Long Branch, NJ

Monmouth University Lockdown: All students at Monmouth University in West Long Branch, NJ were urged to shelter in place due to a police incident on Monday.

Authorities gave an all-clear notice after responding to a student dorm of Monmouth University following a potential hostage situation report.

Around 5 P.M., Monday, Sept. 30, 2024, all students at the university were asked to shelter in place following an active incident at the West Long Branch, NJ campus. Law enforcement agencies announced less than an hour later, that it was a swatting call.

Monmouth University: Monmouth Institution is a private institution in West Long Branch, New Jersey. Founded in 1933 as Monmouth Junior College, it became Monmouth College in 1956 and Monmouth University in 1995 after gaining the charter.
