According to Parks Canada, his team initiated the incident’s medical response plan and administered first assistance right away. The 24-year-old was taken to a helipad on a stretcher and taken out by STARS air ambulance; however, he was later declared deceased.

According to an internet tribute post, Kitchen had a fearless and intelligent attitude. He was a humorous, outspoken man. His close ones described him as a joyous and adventurous person who was 100% genuine.

The tribute also says that, in a place as wild and free as he was, Kitchen got along well with his fellow firefighters and was content to do what he loved. He leaves behind several extended family members, a network of friends, and mourning parents and six siblings.
