Mr. Tyler Snead Augusta, GA, died at 32, loved ones mourns

Mr. Tyler Snead Death – On Tuesday, January 14, 2025, Mr. Tyler Vaughan Snead, age 32, a cherished husband to Kaylee Key Snead and a devoted father to their two daughters, Violet Vaughan Snead and Eleanor Anne Snead.

Tyler was born and raised in Augusta, Georgia, where he spent his entire life. He had a deep love for his hometown, often enjoying the beauty of the canal and river or exploring its historic sites.

Tyler was raised in the Catholic faith and attended St. Mary on the Hill Catholic School before graduating in 2010 from Aquinas High School. He remained connected to his alma mater throughout his life, frequently returning to cheer on and coach the Fighting Irish.

An accomplished student, Tyler earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in public administration from Augusta University. During his college years, he was a standout participant in the Model United Nations and gained invaluable experience through internships with Senator Johnny Isakson and Congressman Rick Allen.

He was also an active member of various organizations, including the Irish American Heritage Society, the Knights of Columbus (Patrick Walsh Council), and the Ancient Order of Hibernians.

Tyler was a dedicated member of St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church and served on the Summerville Augusta University Alumni Board. His passion for rugby was evident in the many leadership roles he held within the Augusta Rugby Club. Tyler was also a generous supporter of the Aquinas High School football program.

Tyler’s love for his family and his heritage was evident in his work as the family historian, where he spent countless hours researching and documenting the stories and lineages of the Casey, Vaughan, and Snead families.

His sense of humor and kind, giving nature endeared him to all who knew him. Whether offering a helping hand, a listening ear, or simply brightening someone’s day with laughter, Tyler’s generosity and warmth made him a trusted confidant and a beloved friend to many.

In addition to his wife and daughters, Tyler is survived by his parents, Derek and Terri Snead; his siblings, Megan Snead Goldberg (Adam) and their children Crawford, Anna Rose, William, Mary Elizabeth, and Robert; Austin Snead; and Marshall Snead (Clare Mulherin). He is also survived by his grandmother, Betty Snead, and his in-laws, Jesse and Alpha Key. He leaves behind a large extended family, including many aunts, uncles, cousins, and their children, all of whom he held dear.

Tyler was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Pat and Sonny Casey and Col. Bob Snead; his cousin, Casey Bentley; and his aunts, Anne and Betty Casey.

Pallbearers will include Derek Snead, Austin Snead, Marshall Snead, Adam Goldberg, Reed Bentley, Patrick Douglas, Jack Kameron, James Leonard, David Leonard, Matthew Leonard, Daniel Leonard, Luigi Clendening, Chris Edry, Drew Garren, Erin Hawk, Forrest Stieg, Mickey Bressler, Matthew Reese, and Patrick Reese. Honorary pallbearers will include David Klein, the Augusta Rugby Football Club, and the Irish American Heritage Society.

A Rosary will be recited on Thursday evening, January 16, 2025, at 5:00 P.M. at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church, with the family receiving friends immediately afterward. The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church, with Fr. Mark Ross as the celebrant. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park.
