Jose DJ Melo, 52, allegedly took the life of his fiancée, 31-year-old Naket Trinidad Maldonado, in a shocking incident that has left the community reeling.
The Union County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that Melo now faces charges including first-degree murder, third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon.
The fatal incident unfolded on Monday, December 30, 2024, at approximately 9:12 a.m. when Elizabeth Police responded to a report of a stabbing at a residence on Florida Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered Maldonado unresponsive. Tragically, she was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
