Nathan Kerstetter Death – According to a crash report filed by the state police at Rockview, a guy who was riding on the back of a garbage truck was killed on Wednesday when the driver of the truck turned around and crashed into a tree in Centre County.
At approximately noon on Wednesday, Nathan R. Kerstetter, 38, from Milesburg, Pennsylvania, was hanging off the back of the truck when the driver backed into a tree that was hanging over a driveway along the 200 block of North Main Street in Port Matilda, according to the police report.
According to the statement that was released on Thursday by the Chief Deputy Coroner of Centre County, J.D. Kubalak, Kerstetter passed away as a result of blunt force trauma to the head. Assisting were the Port Matilda Fire Company, Geisinger LifeFlight, Centre LifeLink EMS, and Port Matilda Emergency Medical Services.
In an email sent out on Thursday, a spokeswoman for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration of the Department of Labor stated that the agency is conducting an investigation into the death of Kerstetter. Within a period of six months, the agency is required to carry out an inquiry and make public its findings.
