Nick Payne Car Accident: The Frimley Park Hospital Consultants and Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust are mourning the tragic death of a longtime doctor and Camberley resident who passed away in a fatal vehicle accident on the M3 yesterday.
Dr. Nicholas Payne was the Emergency Services Director at Frimley Park Hospital. “Very sad day today at Frimley. Dr Nick Payne touched so many lives and was a huge advocate for nurses, clinicians, and HCWs.
A mentor and friend to many, and someone you could always talk to. He cared, always, and he made a difference every day. He won’t be forgotten,” HellomynameisSarah wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
What Happened To Nick Payne?
Nick Payne was identified as the driver who passed away after hitting a concrete barrier while driving over the bridge near the M3. Nick Payne died following the crash that happened on October 1, 2024.
According to law enforcement agencies, the road was shut southbound between junctions 3 for Lightwater and Bagshot and 4a for Farnborough due to the accident.
Drivers have reported being stranded in traffic for more than six hours. The road was reopened shortly after 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, according to National Highways.
The Surrey police were the first to respond, with all emergency services present. A single-vehicle collision on the southbound carriageway near J4 necessitated the dispatch of officers to the M3 at approximately 5:25 p.m. yesterday (Tuesday, 1 October).
Who Was Nick Payne?
The vehicle initially exited the A325 carriageway at the Ravenswood Roundabout, colliding with a concrete barrier and crossing the bridge before landing on the southbound carriageway of the M3. The South East Coast Ambulance Service also responded; however, the driver of the vehicle, a male in his fifties, was declared deceased at the scene, despite the paramedics’ best efforts.
To facilitate the initial investigation, the access road of the A325 and the southbound carriageway of the M3 were both closed for some time. Traffic that was impeded by the closure was required to be redirected from the rear of the queue. Vehicles were being returned to J3 in tiny batches.
The roads have been completely reopened. We are currently seeking any information that could be beneficial to our investigation. We are particularly interested in monitoring the movements of a black BMW I3 before the collision.
