The identify of the teenage boy who was killed the previous afternoon in Montecito after being hit by an Amtrak passenger train was made public by the authorities on Thursday.
According to Raquel Zick, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office’s public relations officer, the victim was 15-year-old Ryan Bradley Chapman of Santa Barbara, California.
According to Zick, Chapman attended Santa Barbara High School. He sustained fatal injuries in the Fernald Point region just before 1:40 p.m.
The teenager was supposedly part of a group of young people strolling along the rails in preparation for a birthday celebration in the vicinity. According to Zick, the high school will open a “compassion center” on Thursday in the Alumni Room from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for students and their families.
Firefighters and sheriff’s deputies were rushed to the scene, along with members of the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Bureau. The Amtrak train that was involved was allegedly heading south, although this could not be verified. More information was not immediately accessible.
