Sioux Falls 2024 6th Homicide – A quiet Sunday afternoon at Dunham Park turned tragic as gunfire erupted, leaving 29-year-old Joshua Allen dead and three others seriously injured.

This incident marks the sixth homicide in Sioux Falls this year, highlighting an unsettling rise in violence that has left the community on edge.

The shooting occurred around 4:30 p.m. in the 1300 block of South Marion Road, during what appeared to be a large gathering at the park. Sioux Falls Police responded quickly to the scene, where they discovered a chaotic and tragic situation.

Joshua Allen, a resident of Sioux Falls, was found fatally shot. The violence did not end there; three other men were also struck by gunfire. A 27-year-old man was critically wounded with gunshot injuries to his legs and torso.

A 40-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound to the face, and a 26-year-old man was shot in the shoulder. The wounded men were rushed to a local hospital, where the 27-year-old and 40-year-old remain in critical condition. The 26-year-old is expected to survive, but the severity of the injuries has left their recovery uncertain.

The Sioux Falls Police Department has launched an extensive investigation into the shooting. Authorities are grappling with the grim reality of another homicide in the city, with this case raising particularly concerning questions.

Multiple shell casings from different calibers were recovered at the scene, indicating that more than one firearm was involved. This discovery has led investigators to consider the possibility of multiple shooters, though no arrests had been made as of Monday morning.
