SPC Ruben Death – On January 17, 2025, SPC Ruben Rodriguez passed away in the ICU in Oklahoma City, leaving behind a grieving family, a military community, and countless friends who remember him as an inspirational and dedicated individual.
At just the beginning of his military journey, Rodriguez’s life was tragically cut short while stationed in Oklahoma City for basic training.
Ruben Rodriguez, lovingly referred to as “Rubencito” by his family, was not only a promising soldier but also a devoted son, nephew, and friend. His warm personality, drive, and excitement for life were evident to everyone he encountered. Ruben was known for his vibrant spirit, inspiring those around him with his ambition and determination to succeed.
As a newly enlisted soldier, Rodriguez was stationed in Oklahoma City to begin basic training. His recruiter, Joshua Seguine, reflected on the enthusiasm Ruben brought to the process. “You were so excited and ready to go,” Seguine shared. “You inspired those around you, and it shows in the lasting impression you made on myself and everyone you met.”

Ruben’s aunt, Carmen Rodriguez Colon, shared an emotional plea during his time in the ICU, urging people to pray for his recovery. “Can you, whoever you are, wherever you are, say a prayer from the heart for him?” she wrote. “I believe God is not done yet. I’m expecting a miracle, healing over Rubencito’s body. I believe in the power of prayer.”
These words reflect the deep love and faith his family held for him. The outpouring of prayers and support from family, friends, and strangers alike underscores the profound impact Ruben had on those around him.
