Tanisha Weeks Death, Timothy Gibbs Obituary: Woman and ex-boyfriend died in domestic murder-suicide in North Lawndale

Tanisha Weeks and Timothy Gibbs Death – A heart-wrenching incident unfolded Thursday morning in North Lawndale, Chicago, when 41-year-old Tanisha Weeks and her 35-year-old ex-boyfriend, Timothy Gibbs, were found dead in her apartment on West Grenshaw Street.

Both victims died from gunshot wounds to the head, in what authorities are treating as a tragic case of domestic violence that escalated despite legal safeguards.

Weeks had obtained an order of protection against Gibbs in December, citing years of physical and emotional abuse. She had expressed fears for her own safety and that of her two children during their volatile five-year relationship, which ended in November. Yet, despite these legal measures, Gibbs managed to breach the protective order, culminating in the deadly confrontation.

Court documents paint a grim picture of the abuse Weeks endured. She had recounted harrowing incidents where Gibbs threatened to kill her, strangled her, and even fired a gun near her during a terrifying encounter.

Despite these grave allegations, Gibbs was released on probation after failing to register as a violent offender. In the days leading up to the tragic deaths, Weeks’ mother, Katie Gibbs, reported that Timothy had been “threatening everyone.”

Weeks was a dedicated educator who spent 15 years teaching pre-K through second grade, impacting countless young lives. She was described as a loving mother, devoted daughter, and an active member of her church community. Those who knew her remember her as a woman full of life and warmth, whose future was tragically cut short.

This heartbreaking incident serves as a painful reminder of the devastating effects of domestic violence and the limitations of protective orders when abusers are not held fully accountable. The Chicago Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deaths of both victims.
