Terry Hoganson Death – Principal of Bluffton School Terry Hoganson of Alberta has sadly passed away. He died on Thursday 15th February 2024 leaving family, friends and his entire student in shock. He was confirmed dead through a Facebook post that says “It is with profound sadness we share news of the passing of former Rundle Academy teacher and friend Terry Hoganson.

On February 15, 2024, Terry suddenly succumbed to the effects of a brain bleed”. Terry was an integral part of our Rundle community for over a decade, leaving an indelible mark on the institution.

Beginning his journey with us in 1999 as a teacher, he swiftly rose to the positions of Athletic Director and Head of Years, showcasing his unwavering commitment to the growth and development of Rundle Academy.

Throughout his tenure, Terry’s leadership and mentorship were invaluable assets to our community. His profound impact extended beyond his official roles, touching the lives of students, faculty, and staff alike.

As a teacher, Terry’s dedication to academic excellence was unparalleled. He taught the Academy’s highest level of social studies, guiding countless students to achieve remarkable academic success. His passion for sports led him to establish Rundle Academy’s athletic program from the ground up. Under his guidance, the program flourished, expanding to compete in over 10 leagues with numerous teams.

His coaching prowess propelled several basketball teams to championship victories, inspiring athletes to reach their full potential on and off the court. Terry’s commitment to enriching students’ experiences extended beyond the classroom and the sports field. He led several impactful World War I & II battlefield tours, providing over 100 students with profound insights into history while fostering a deeper understanding of the sacrifices made by previous generations.

In addition to his professional achievements, Terry’s philanthropic spirit shone through his initiative in founding the Academy’s “Moves Mountains Breakfast,” a testament to his commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive community.

Beyond his myriad accomplishments, Terry will be remembered as more than just a colleague or leader—he will be cherished as a trusted friend with a boundless heart, a wise mentor who inspired others to greatness, and a passionate coach who instilled values of teamwork and perseverance.
