Tom Beauvais Obituary, Dedicated Founder of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Siouxland has died

Tom Beauvais Obituary, Death – A great soul, Tom Beauvais, the visionary founder of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Siouxland, has passed away, and it is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to him this morning. Our celebration is in honor of a life that was devoted to having a significant influence on the lives of a great number of youngsters in Siouxland.

His parents, Floyd and Phyllis (DesLauriers) Beauvais, welcomed their son Tom into the world on March 9, 1950, in Watertown, South Dakota. During his time at the Black Hills Army Depot in Igloo, which is located in the southwestern region of South Dakota, he attended elementary school through the first 1.5 years of high school. After moving to California with his family, Tom completed his high school education at Yuba City High School and continued his education at California State College at Hayward, where he participated in cross country and marathon running.

Following his graduation from college, Tom relocated to Sioux City, where he spent a number of years editing newsletters for many organizations, including the Siouxland Ski Club, the Woodbury County Genealogy Society, and his own Beauvais Family Newsletter. As a volunteer, he coached girls’ basketball at the Salvation Army and taught girls fast-pitch softball at SYA. He also coached girls’ basketball.

In addition to writing a book on his college work with the San Francisco Big Brother Program, Tom compiled two volumes, one of which was about his family ancestry. As a result of his contributions to the establishment of the Big Brothers Big Sisters Chapter in Sioux City in 1978, he was honored with the title of “Big Brother of the Decade”. Researching his family tree, collecting stamps, playing card and board games, and watching old westerns were all activities that Tom enjoyed doing.

It is important that we remember Tom not only as a founder, but also as a friend who was empathetic, a mentor to other mentors, and a source of inspiration for generation after generation. Have a peaceful rest, Tom. The love and guidance that you have left behind will continue to reverberate in the hearts of everyone you have helped.

Feel free to leave a message of condolences and prayers for the family and friends of the deceased in the comments section as it will go a long way for them during this difficult time.
