UC Berkeley Shooting Investigation: Reports of Gunshot, Lockdown at UC Berkeley Campus, University of California
A portion of the University of California, Berkeley campus was placed on lockdown Thursday morning following reports of gunfire near the Clark Kerr Campus track.
University officials confirmed that police and emergency services were responding to the scene where shots were allegedly fired in the vicinity of individuals running on the track.
As a precautionary measure, authorities urged the public to avoid the Clark Kerr Campus and the Hillside Campus, which encompasses the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, UC Botanical Garden, Lawrence Hall of Science, Space Science Lab, and the Math Science Research Institute.
Those unable to leave these areas were advised to shelter in place. No injuries have been reported thus far. The situation remains ongoing, and further details are expected to be released as they become available.
