How did the incident happen?
At approximately 11:15 a.m., A massive metal beam that weighed several hundred pounds fell from the 61st floor of a condominium that was under construction due to a crane incident. He unfortunately passed away suddenly in front of his astonished coworkers. According to TVA Nouvelles reports.
Vito Fundaro, a subcontractor working on the ground, was formally identified later that evening. After the event, the Magil Construction-managed site was quickly closed.
In a statement, Magil Construction expressed regret for the incident and promised to work closely with the Commission for Standards, Equity, Health, and Safety’s investigations.
Eyewitnesses reported several shaken workers leaving the site during the dinner hour. It was revealed that there was no ground perimeter under the crane to safeguard workers, an issue that had allegedly been raised by workers on-site.
