Walker McKnight Vaping Obituary: Orlando Florida man who nearly died from JUUL addiction has passed away

Walker McKnight Vaping Obituary – The Orlando man who underwent a double lung and kidney transplant in 2019 following his addiction to Vaping has died.

The former Florida Atlantic University student and cheerleader passed away just a few hours before the New Year. 25-year-old Walker McKnight’s death was announced by his father, David Mcknight.

David Mcknight: On 12/31/24 our son, Walker Gray, passed peacefully with his parents, his pastor, and his best friend at his side. May his sweet soul rest in peace.

He was 25. His lungs, from a transplant in 2022, failed from rejection and there was nothing more he or medical science could do. The tremendous pain we feel at losing him is only tempered by the fact that we know he isn’t suffering any longer.

And by the fact that he is with our Lord Jesus Christ and our family in heaven. How do we know for certain? Because he told us as much with his final words. In his delirium, as if speaking to several people, he blurted out with confidence “I’m a Christian boy!”
We will miss you every day Walker Gray, the kind-hearted, fun-loving, loyal, thoughtful person that you will always be, until we meet again, this time for eternity. Your loving family and friends

Walker McKnight Vaping Story
When Walker McKnight was 19, he was a college cheerleader at Florida Atlantic University, full of energy and excitement for his future. However, his promising path took a devastating turn when he fell gravely ill during his first year. His condition was so severe that it nearly cost him his life.

McKnight was eventually diagnosed with EVALI, a life-threatening lung condition linked to vaping. His health deteriorated rapidly, leading to a double-lung and kidney transplant—a grueling journey of survival and recovery. Reflecting on the pivotal moment when his health spiraled, McKnight shared, “When everything went south and my lungs kind of just gave out, they were intubating. I think we realized, ‘This was probably because he was vaping.’”

Today, McKnight is speaking out as news breaks that Juul, a major player in the vaping industry, is being held accountable for its marketing practices. The company is set to pay millions of dollars in a settlement brought forward by a coalition of 33 states. Juul has issued a statement calling the settlement a “significant part of our ongoing commitment to resolve issues from the past.”

For McKnight, the settlement is a step toward addressing the harm caused by vaping. “If you could just get a glimpse of what some people have to go through just from what this has caused, I don’t think anyone would want to vape,” he said, urging others to understand the life-altering consequences that vaping can have. His story serves as a powerful reminder of the human cost behind the headlines and a call for greater awareness and accountability.
