Drowning Incident: Wayne Argyle, 83, Elderly visitor from Centerville, UT, died in waters off Hawaii Island
An 83-year-old visitor from Utah is dead following a possible drowning in Kealakekua Bay, Hawaii Island police said.
The victim has been identified as Wayne Argyle, of Centerville, Utah.
According to officials, Argyle was part of a guided snorkeling tour around 10 a.m.
About five minutes after a safety brief, a crew member found him face down in the water. The crew member tried calling his name and tapping him on the back, but he did not respond.
Crew members brought Argyle onto the boat and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
He was transported to the Kona Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
An autopsy has been ordered to determine his exact cause of death.
There are no signs of foul play.
