Wyatt Sidney Duckworth Death: Authorities Identify Teen Killed in Head-on Butler County Crash

Wyatt Sidney Duckworth Death: The 16-year-old pupil who perished in a head-on collision on Thursday morning has been identified by the Butler County Coroner’s Office.

According to Dr. Lisa Mannix, Butler County Coroner, the teenager was identified as Wyatt Sidney Duckworth, of Middletown.

At 6:30 a.m., the collision occurred on West Elkton Road. According to the sheriff’s office, Duckworth was operating a 2005 Pontiac with his 13-year-old sister in the passenger seat when the vehicle turned left of centre and collided with a 2013 Chevrolet Suburban SUV.

According to Superintendent Kelly Spivey, the 60-year-old man operating the SUV was subsequently identified as Kevin Johnson, a social studies instructor at Edgewood City Schools. Sgt. Steve Poff of the Butler County Sheriff’s Office stated that the driver, the 16-year-old male, and the 13-year-old female were departing their mother’s residence in the city of Hamilton to prepare for school at their father’s residence.

Duckworth was declared deceased at the scene of the collision, and his sister was transported to Dayton Children’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries via CareFlight medical helicopter, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office. As well, Johnson was transported to Miami Valley Hospital by CareFlight due to life-threatening injuries. The crash’s cause is still being investigated.

The 16-year-old was an 11th grader in the Preble Shawnee Local Schools district, as indicated in a letter from Superintendent Todd Bowling. Additionally, his younger sister is enrolled in school. “We will have counsellors and support staff available for any student who wishes to talk or needs help processing this tragedy throughout the rest of today and Friday, October 18th,” Bowling’s letter to families stated. “We will not be issuing a formal announcement to the entire student body; however, we will be offering assistance as required.”
