Zachary Hatcher Kansas City MO Obituary – Kansas City police are investigating a tragic incident that left a man and two children dead inside a Northland home on Thursday night.
Officers were dispatched to the residence, located in a neighborhood northwest of Route 152 and US 169, around 9:45 p.m. after receiving a welfare check request.
Upon arrival, officers detected smoke and saw a fire burning inside the house. They immediately called the Kansas City Fire Department and entered the home to search for anyone inside.
Due to the fire’s growing threat, they made the decision to evacuate. Once firefighters extinguished the flames, police reentered the home, where they discovered a man and a young girl dead from gunshot wounds.
A young boy was also found inside the house, suffering from gunshot injuries. Emergency responders transported him to a hospital, but he later succumbed to his injuries. The victims have been identified as Zachary Hatcher, 39, and his two children, Jeffery Hatcher, 8, and Charlotte Hatcher, 6. Zachary was the father of the two children.
Detectives are treating the case as a homicide and are working to piece together the events leading up to the shootings and the cause of the fire. They have stated that they are not searching for any suspects at this time but have not disclosed further details about the circumstances surrounding the incident.
